Freediving Education Program

The goal of the AIDA Education Program is to share the knowledge and skills to enjoy freediving in a safe and responsible way. It caters for absolute beginners as much as for advanced freedivers and takes you through a comprehensive, professional qualification structure all the way up to AIDA Instructor level. Freediving has probably been around since the dawn of mankind. Just look at the phenomenal Japanese pearl diving Amas, the Greek sponge collectors or the Filipino, Indonesian or Malaysian water tribes with their spectacular underwater hunting capabilities. Compared to that, recreational and competitive freediving as we know it today is still a very young phenomenon. Because of that, the learning curve in modern freediving is still steep. Techniques get introduced, refined, adapted, and replaced all the time.

The AIDA Education Program is kept on top of this rapid development by regular revision and adaptation to the latest research in order to remain the standard of worldwide freediving Education since its inception in 1992.

  • Can I join if I can’t swim?
Freediving, unlike scuba diving, is a relatively demanding sport and adequate swimming skill is needed. The course requires one to be able to swim 200 metres unassisted, non-stop in a pool setting. If you are unsure, we suggest that you join our DISCOVER FREEDIVING for RM120 (a 1.5-hr-session) to try out the sports before committing to a certification course.
  • I would like to take the Level 1 course. How do I register?
To register for any beginner course, please drop us a message and we shall email you the registration and medical declaration forms to start with. Confirm your slot by paying at least half of the course fee upon registration.
